Apollo Conservatories

07 Totnes Conservatory Gallery

The old Conservatory did not truly reflect this magnificent Grade 2* Listed Building. Our brief was to provide a larger area where plants could be truly enjoyed throughout the year.

For this purpose Orangeries were originally created. It was therefore a delight to be involved with this project and to create a design that complemented this great building. Certain design features were borrowed from the main building such as the large scotia moulding just below the eaves, which was used on a smaller or subordinate scale under the eaves of the new Orangery, truly creating a sense of belonging.

The special double glazed units incorporating 22mm slim glazing bars were added to improve the overall stance of the building. Solar Control Glass was incorporated throughout, to help control temperature, both throughout the summer and winter periods.

Although being a very special Grade 2* building the Conservation Officer was delighted with the proposal and it was approved with no changes being required to the submitted scheme.
