Apollo Conservatories

<p>The position of this Orangery was critical ergonomically. It needed to be in the corner with access doors from both the Kitchen and Study. An Orangery style with its flat roof and central lantern seemed the obvious choice from a technical viewpoint, however as this building had originally been a barn, there were real concerns about the suitability of such a structure. Orangeries are normally considered too grand for such a vernacular style building. The low roof lines into the corner did not allow a simple lean to design, generally considered more acceptable on this type of building.</p>
<p>If we were to use an Orangery style, we had to be extremely careful keeping the design simple, with none of the more fancy enhancements normally associated with Orangeries.</p>
<p>The full height glazed panels either side of the French Doors created more depth, with a feeling of being part of the garden.</p>
<p>This design was accepted by the Local Authority for the reasons stated above and the client was delighted with the finished result.</p>
